There are several causes for this event. Start with this areticle:

WIN2K DNS ERROR

I had this problem a few weeks ago when I set up 2000 Server. I had a single server, with DNS installed on it, and it was the authoritative server for the domain I set it to use.
The problem was, I did not configure the server to use ITSELF for DNS resolution.
So, go to the properties of your IP connection (Start -> Settings ->Network & dialup connections -> Local Area Connection), and add the servers IP address as the first DNS server.

Hope that helps.

As suggested read http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q259/2/77.ASP

If u have only one DNS server & the problem is on that server then make sure to add the loopback address 127.0.0.1 in your First preferred DNS server option.
