Win2K Group Policy

By vincent_angeles80 ·
I have a small office network and it is composed of a Win2k pro as the server and 5 win98 network clients.
Can I apply Win2K group policies to Win98 network clients? I haven't tried this yet. How would I do it?

If you are running Windows 2000 Professional, then no. Group Policies are for Windows 2000 Server and Active Directory.

If you meant Windows 2000 Server, then technically there is, but it is very limited and doesn't exhibit the same functionality you would have with a 2000 or XP client. Your best bet would be to use a batch file to map needed drives and printers.

you cannot push group policy to win98 pcs from w2k. you will need to edit the group policy on each machine in order to do this. if you want this type of control, i would upgrade your server to win2k standard sever and your desktops to w2k pro. create a domain and you will have worlds of flexability and control

You are running a workgroup, not a client/server network. You must use local policies.
