Win2K hh.exe/itss.dll crash

by birdlover . Updated 24 years, 12 months ago

My Win2K Pro laptop installation has been working fine for a year. The C drive has Win98/fat32 installed and D is NTFS for Win2K. Apps were installed to the drive for the proper OS, but I do share projects and data between OS. I’m a developer andhave MSDN/VStudio, HTML Help Workshop etc installed. Recently I went to XML class and installed IIS, MSHTML3, XML Spy, and VStudio Service pack 5 and maybe something else. Somewhere in that mess any time HTML Help files were opened I developed this crash.

I’ve removed HTML Help Workshop, done an inplace upgrade of Win2K using the install cdrom to fix it, but that didn’t help. I reinstalled Win2K SP1 and that didn’t help, then downloaded andinstalled Win2K SP2 and the problem still happens. My user has admin group privileges and I’m also the administrator, but didn’t logon to admin when performing the above.

I’ve read Q201420, Q268353, and several other articles in the KnowledgeBase without any joy. I’m ready to wipe Win2K off the HD but wondered if anyone has other ideas to try before doing that. Nothing I try even changes the crash location.
