    Win2k install won’t play nice!!

I have a 11.5 gig hard drive [ide] with win98
    on drives c: d: e:, f: is to be the win2000
install. I go through the install up to the
point of formatting f: then get the message
that it can’t be formatted, after the format
    is done?
Win98 works well with no problems what gives?
Am I selecting the incorrect option after my
hard drive is analyzed? The options on which
one to format are rather perplexing. I
selected the drive that matched the capacity
    of f:
The nt loader is visible through win98 and
drive f: is present but inaccessible.
    c: 2.46
    d: 5.84
    e: 1.36
    f: 1.74
These numbers don’t match the ones after the
hard drive is analyzed in win2000 setup. Cmos
is set to boot from the cdrom and no antivirus.

This may be a silly question, but what type of partitions are d,e, and f? Remember that you are limited to 4 primary partitions per hard drive no matter how big it is.

      Just a thought… Ray

I have fat32 partitions on all drives. Will an old bios be the culprit (1995)?

Let me through this out their, Did you try installing from Win98, or did you boot from the CD. Try rebooting with the install Win2k CD in the drive and the 2k boot disk in “A” and not to Win98. Win2k will not install from Win98.
