My Windows 2000 Pro has had no trouble reading CDs in my CD-ROM or CD-RW until now. I’ve suddenly lost the ability to read any CD in either drive, only under Windows. The drives work in DOS mode, are being recognized by Windows and assigned drive letters. I can even eject CDs thru Disk Manager. But If I try to read a CD in Explorer or My Computer, I either get the error “E:\ is not accessible, incorrect function,” or “please insert a disk into drive E:”
I recently installed the upgrade to Ahead-Nero CD burning software and IN-CD packet writing. When I realized I couldn’t read CDs, I removed both programs, ran emergency recovery, even restored an earlier system state backup to try to get my CDs back. Nothing has worked.
Any help wouldbe appreciated.
