Win2k power management access denied

By cpapachristou ·
We have user on a windows 2000 laptop connected to a windows 2000 domain server.

In Control Panel, Display Settings, we cannot change standby mode to Never, even though the user is an administrator on his PC and on the Domain.

Might be a restriction in default domain policy.
Try to log on locally ->use the 'options' button at logonscreen and choose your computer instead of the domain. Then logon with the local admin.

I have logged in to the local machine as administrator and changed the power settings, but when I log out and back in as a user on the domain the power settings do not change.

Boy i hate when some settings dont filter down to user profiles. Ok do this. Make the user a local administrator. Now change the settings. Now remove the user from local administrators. That will do it.

The user is a local administrator, and is able to change the settings on the local machine, but when that user logs out of the local pc and onto the domain the changes do not take affect and he has access denied when he attempts to change it. I havechanged every users settings to and they take affect except the one for the domain. This is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
