Does anyone know what file Windows 2000 Professional is looking for and where it is located when clicking on Add to add a network protocol? When I try to install a new protocol from the network connection properties panel by selecting install and then selecting protocol and then clicking Add, I get the following Network Connection error: "Could not add the requested component. The error is: The requested path does not contain any applicable INFs."

Well, it cost $99 but Microsoft was able to solve my problem. I will share the information with y?all for nothing. It seems that when I installed my SMC2635W 11Mbps Wireless Cardbus Adapter, it changed the DevicePath registry key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion to point to its own installation folder rather than %SystemRoot%\inf. When I changed the register key back to its proper value, everything started working again.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
