I have domain setup with NT4 pdc, bdc, with 2000 member servers. DNS is running on a 2000 box, no AD and no WINS. When I try and join the domain with a win2k pro machine from the same segment the servers are on, I have no problem. When I try to jointhe domain with the same or any pc on a different subnet I get the error “domain either does not exist or could not be contacted”. I have tried this both leaving the computer account in the domain and removing it, same result for both. Using the netview command comes back with Access denied, which I would expect. I can ping all the servers by name, nslookup comes back with the correct dns server, can even map drive by suppling credentials, just can’t join domain.
Any suggestions?
