WIN2K Pro Peer to Peer problem w/WINXP

by pconsite . Updated 22 years, 10 months ago

I have WIN2KPro machine that can see all shared resources on the WIN98SE&WINXPPro machines that I have connected to my Linksys Router/Hub.I have 3 printers one connected to the WIN98SE machine all three machines can see it.The other 2 printers physically connected to the WIN2K machine. All 3 printers are shared but the only one WINXP sees is WIN98s.The drives&printers on the WIN2K machine are shared but neither the WIN98orWINXP machines can see anything from the WIN2K machine.I went to “Add a Printer”,from the WINXP,& do see the WIN2K machine. When I”Browse for a printer”I type the shared name of one of the printers I get the response”Windows cannot connect to the printer.”Help only refers to WIN2K Server assistance&,as previously stated, themachine I am using is WIN2K Professional.I cannot get to properties of”File & Printer Sharing”(unless someone can give me a Regedit Tweak that would open this up).I also tried to create another Network&Dialup Connection/Incoming Connections but cannot Enable it even when my normal Local Area Connection is disabled.I added NETBEUI to my WINXP Pro machine&always receive a”Duplicate Name on the Network error” after it is in place. This machine has a 1394 Connection that I have disabled from the Network Connections Window.I even powered off both the WIN98&WIN2K machines and still received this error. No matter how I try to get to the WIN2K machine I always get the response “Access is denied”.I also have tried from a DOS prompt with:”net use lpt1\\WIN2K\EPSON880″&get the response:”Logon failure:the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer”.I have gone to help on my WIN2K machine&nowhere have I found where I can change the “Logon Type”.I, ideally, would want to share resources via TCP/IP rather than NETBIOS.I have even disabled my individually installed Firewalls to see if that was what was blocking the access but that was not it.
