Win2K Pro & SCSI

By Nalced ·
I have a Yamaha Sampler that I want to connect to my Win2K pc via SCSI. Whenever I power on both devices and boot windows it recognises the Sampler as new hardware and the 'Found New Hardware' wizard starts. I continually press cancel until windowsregisters over 60 entries in Device Manager under Other Devices, each of them saying the device is not working properly. Needless to say I cannot see the sampler with any of my software and cannot transfer samples via SCSI. Any ideas?

The first thing to do is to go into Device Manager and remove all of the Sampler entries .
Boot, and accept it, loading the driver.
The Sampler should now work.
If the Yamaha Sampler works, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information, click the mouse.
Then click the Tools menue.
Then click Registry Checker.
When it completes the normal registry scan, click yes, to back up the registry.
(You can do this, up to six times, per one boot/day.)
This will back upthe proper settings into the registry.
If the Sampler does not work properly, definitly do not do this, you don't want trash in the Registry.
Check on the Web, to make sure you have the latest driver.
You may have to power up Sampler, after the boot, to overcome this problem in the future, otherwise.
Regards, Chris
