Win2k Professional – Not able to logon i

    Locked

    by cdlampl ·

I am trying to install Win2K Professional on a machine. I have installed three times with the same results. I get into Windows initially (the last time I did a Windows Update) and when I reboot and try to logon again, I get “The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively.”

Each time I have installed, I have gone into the local policy editor and set permissions for the policy “Log on Locally”. The second time through the installation, I gave rights to several accounts (including my normal account). The third time, I gave rights to Everyone. All of the accounts give me the same message. The only way into the operating system after that is if I do a repair.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be eternally grateful!!

Hmmm…. that is a strange one and definitely not normal behavior for a W2K install. Have you tried starting with a freshly formatted drive before an install?

Also, are you installing this machine on a domain? It shouldn’t make a difference butwas just wondering if there is a policy on the network that might be causing problems?

It was a domain policy that was causing me the problems!

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
