    Win2k running 27gig drive

    Locked

    by banditx ·

I am running 2 Physical drives
    #1 is 8gig #2 is 27 gig
    #1 is partitioned 6gig/2gig (Drive c / e)
Win2k is on e: win98 is on c: win2k can see and read c: and see’s d: (the 27gig drive) but think’s it’s a 7.84gig drive and every tim i try to access it it tells me that it needs to be formatted,. if i try to format the drive win2k tells me the drive is defective,. in win98 the drive shows up and works perfectly,. (not after i attempt to format it in win2k)
All I want is to be able to read the drive in both win98 and win2k I have tried Installing win2k in both ntfs AND Fat32
It is currently in fat32 And I Perfer it that way,. any help would be great thanks in advance

    Proposed Answer
use the Disk Manager tool under Win2K, blow away the partition, and create the partition in order to format from there for the 2nd drive using FAT32. That should work.

When I try to format it in the Disk Manager tool It says the maximum size I can format at is 8056,.. So no help there

That’s the maximum you can put W2k on for it to work. the solution is to put W2K on C: or E: and it will recongize the 27GB partition. I know this doesn’t help but that’s the solution. Sorry!

I was able to get the HDD Working on my Raid Controller card,. I think it was a Motherboard/Bios config issue with my onboard IDE,. It is now working perfectly in both win98/win2k Thanks anyhow,.
