Win2k SATA Boot Problem

by anotherrbb . Updated 20 years, 2 months ago

I have a new iDEQ 350G mini PC with an Intel P4 930 and a Maxtor SATA hard drive. I’ve installed Windows2000 Pro w/ SP4; also have installed the latest bios from the Biostar website.

The problem is that during boot the system freezes during the ‘Starting Windows …’ progress bar. The system also freezes when trying to boot from the Windows installation CD. The weird part is that every once in a while (about every 30 tries) the system will boot fine and run with no problems.

I’ve installed the Win2K recovery console however I cannot start it due to the fact that it requires the SATA driver disk to be inserted in drive A: during boot and the system has no floppy drive.

Any help would be appreciated.
