Win2k Server/Pro ICS problem.

By Technomancer ·
I am running a small home network and am using Win2k on my internet machine. My kids access the internet through my machine using ICS (multihomed pro machine). I added another computer so that I could practice working with Server and as long as my Server is on the network or running, I can't get my other machine (Win98SE) online.

How can I fix this problem? I don't really want to move nic cards around from machine to machine, but it would be nice to be able to atleast get the updates for server.

If you run your W2k Server with DHCP disabled, you can still make use of the ICS feature in the other machine. You see, your ICS machine is acting as your DHCP server to service other units in the home network, it cannot function properly if you add a Server which competes in the IP leasing function of the ICS.

That won't work. I'm using static ip addresses on my lan. The only machine that uses DHCP is the ICS machine and that's for the internet only. I am running my Server with DHCP disabled though and I can now get the win98 machine online, but I still can't get the server to access the internet even though it "see's" the rest of the lan.
