win2k-setup with winxp-bootdisk

By europanorama ·
my win2ksp4-cd-copy is not bootable-i made a mistake. thats why i will use a winxp-bootdisk. i have made bootpartitions c and d for system/windows. at bootup it ias said to make xp-folder and copy the content of i386 to that folder. at the end i must execute winnt.exe there.
1. do i have to make that folder in d? 2. can i delete it after setup?

You can create boot-disks for your W2K CD > just go to the [CD]:\BOOTDISK\makeboot.exe in a dos environment. You'll have 4 boot disks and you can start the installation from them. Don't use a XP cd to install W2K!!!! I will suppose that you were not writting this in your question :).

i have found those installation disks somewhere and used them but had to use bootable win2ksp3-cd-copy. of course i could have used the boot-cd-install-process. nonbootable win2ksp4-cd had a problem.

yes. i tried a winxp-boot-floppy-disk. i got this tip. but my win2ksp4-cd seem to have a problem or the whole process. do not want to get into details. i ended up using my four installation-floppy-disks i forgot plus win2ksp3. i will recreate new sp4-cd-copy. i do pc-service. i am investing endless amount of time-almost all i have-into this business. i had huge virus-troubles despite using zero-fill-format. there must have been some security-holes. i ended up loading avg plus zone alarm instead of norton software. maybe the problem was because-offline-i could not manually install virus-definitions(intelligent uploaded 2.0 instead of 4.0 needed) together with old nav2002. this was the clue, right. if i had 2003 this could possibly not happen. i cannot reconstruct. i checked out a lot of measurings. went to http://www.grc.com executed some excellent tools. btw: zonealarm, mentioned there to be stealth with leaktest, was not stealth.
