    Win2k – What is the Active Directory Ser

    Anyone know about the new feature in win2k ie. the Active Directory Services and the Microsoft Management Console ? I need some explainations or documentation regarding both of them.

      Go to Microsoft’s Windows 2000 website http://microsoft.com/windows2000/default.asp and select technical documentation. In their, you can select “Active Directory in depth” and “management services in depth” which will discuss MMC. MMC is just a management plug in tool that Microsoft is using to standardize management interfaces. This is currently used in some newer apps, like SQL server 7.0 and Diskeeper 5.0.

      Active Directory Services (a data structure that allows any network object to be tracked).An alternative for LAN Manager.
      MMC- A administration tool that manages a Windows NT installation to which application-specific templates or plug-ins are added.
      Use the address from answer 1 to get the white paper for Windows 2000 from Microsoft site
