win2k3 media server load simulator

by valis . Updated 22 years, 9 months ago

i have a dell dual 550mhz xeon workstation that i’ve turned into a windows 2003 streaming media server.

i’d LIKE to know just how much traffic this guy can handle, so i dl’d the win2k3 streaming media load simulator. but it does NOT work, and not only that, but after i install it, windows media player on the comp that it’s installed on BREAKS, it no longer works at all, i have to reinstall windows media player and remove the load simulator. i’ve followed the instructions as closely as possible, and i still can’t connect to the server with the load simulator client machine, gives me various errors. and the BREAKING of windows media player on the client right after the load simulator is installed is highly suspicious.

has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?
does anyone have any tips to get load simulator to work properly?
anything you think i’ve missed?
i’m installing the load simulator on a win2k machine, on the same LAN as the server, i’ve installed it on TWO machines, both win2k, and BOTH experience the breaking of their respective media players, only after removing the load sim and reinstalling media player 9 will it work again.

thanks,

valis
