Win95/98 profiles in a domain

By Mikel~T ·
I have a network with 3 NT servers, + 1 PDC. All of the clients are W95/98. I want to setup all of the computers so that any user can logon to any computer, and access their profile. I know NT profiles better than w95, but I'm not sure how to enforce the profile being used when a user logs on to any other computer throughout the department. Any tips on where to look for some help?

I didn't set this network up, I'm new to the company, and had this project dumped in my lap two days after Istarted here.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

Mike

You will have to setup Roaming Profiles by copying the profiles to a share on your server, then specifing the location of the profile in the user id setup by specifing the path to the share. Windows 95/98 users are a little different than NT and there are specific instructions in the Windows 95 Resource Kit (Chpt 15). I don't happen to have the dit available, or I would be more specific. You will also have to decide on whether or not to make your profiles mandatory. Mandatory profiles will help to make sure the profile always looks the same, but if the network is down, the user will not be able to logon to the local machine at all.

Good Luck

The almight Resource kit...thank you. I wish the company would just move on for cryin' out loud. At least I don't have to deal with windows 3.1...

thanks.
