Win95 to Win2K networking

By sfisher ·
I have a small test network of 2 computers: one running Win95 and the other was running win98 with no problems but I have recently upgraded it to Win2K Pro and can no longer see one from the other. No domain, no server. How do I get the two machinesto see each other? Or can I?

How are they connected? Is the workgroup name the same? Are the IP addresses in the same sub-range? Is the subnet mask the same? Did you remember to re-enable print and file sharing on the w2k machine? Is the NIC in the w2k machine compliant with w2k? At least this gives you some questions to answer and narrow down the possible causes of the problem.

I mentioned the NIC assuming you are connecting them via NICs.
