Win95 Versions

By TZapf ·
I need a cost/benefit analysis of upgrading to Win95 Version C for everyone in the company. We have some on Version A, some on Version B and most on Version C. Does anyone know if there are any significant benefits of upgrading to version C from A or B? I can't really tell the difference between the 3 myself??

My personal opinion is that if you don't need the USB support that comes with the later versions, there is no real compelling reason to upgrade until you're ready to move to Win98, WinME or W2K.

One caveat, however. If you are planning on migrating your servers to W2K, there may be some authentication issues with older Windows clients and that might be the time to upgrade the desktop to at least Win98SE.

Version C is assign to computer mfr only. You can use the Windows 95B and do the windows updates from Microsoft site and have the equivalent to the Win95C.
You don't need special licensing to go from Win95A to Win95B. You should use B with all the updates mentioned above. If you not sure how to update Windows on Microsoft site, email me and I'll give you the step-by-step.

Good luck!

I'm not sure of significant changes from B to C , but you gain FAT 32 in version B from A. But if your going to go to the work of upgrading Go to Win98!, It has Windows update, for all the fixes & security updates and I find it a lot more stable. Win 98SE has internet Sharing built in & is a nice plus if you need it.

Windows 95 version A requires the Dialup networking 1.3 upgrade which you can download from Microsoft's site. Other than that, I don't think there is any major difference.
