WIN98 and Win200

by jdawk . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I am supporting a scientific lab and the users are not logging in correctly to the workgroup.
They dont understand the difference between Windows Login and a network login.
I am in the process of setting up an authentication Server to work with UNix to provide a domain.
Until then:
So there is only a workgroup settup that provides the users with the resources to needednetwork directories. My question is that this Win98 machine thats hooked up to the lab equipment needs to have the type of login a Windows 2000 box.
In other words if the users try to login
without the correct userID and password it will not log them in. How do you turn a win98 box into a win2000 or NT type box without loading the O.S. Can you get rid of the windows login entirely or is there a utility
or shell that can run to make this happen.
