Win98 Boot error

By Pattie Maier ·
Ibm 600 laptop with Win98 will not boot properly. Boots from the c with WIN then blue screen stating (summarized)VD etc errors, related to video/graphics. System will operate, has distinct graphic issues.

Will not allow reinstallation of Windows, stating that Windows setting has changed, reboot.

Question, will the installation of Win2000Professional correct or compound this issue?

Is there a DOS command to retrieve the missing or corrupt file?

I think win2000prof more good than win98, so i think with win2000prog on your Ibm 600 will solve your problem. I suggest you install in fresh installation, it mean you must backup your data and then format your harddrive. If you still have problem try IBM website about your problem. That's all i can say right now.

If your problem has occurred due to a change you have made to your system recently. Try running registry restore from DOS. Type scanreg/restore at prompt, select registry back up made prior to problem starting and restore. Hope this helps.
