Win98 freeze's

By edmund.kosenski ·
I have a 700MHZ PC with 256MB of RAM. At lease 3 times a day the PC freeze's- My User and System Resources range between 32% to 50% and my GDI resources are around 84%. My available phyiscal memory ranges from 130MB to 180MB's. I have the following utilities activated: NAV 2000, Zone Alarm, and MEM Turbo. Today I just did a print screen capture from within Eudora 5.0 to Word 2000- when I tried to print the Word document my pc froze and I had to do a hard reboot.

Try going to msconfig. take every thing from
start up except system tray and scanreg. reboot then check your system resources..
system resources should be in the 90's then.

Hi I would go use msconfig too but leave explorer also. But before you take off everything I would look for MSoffice startup and findfast take the checks off of these click apply ok reboot and sheck your systems resources by right cclicking on my computer choose properties, the preformance tab and see if you get at least 80%. If so then look once again in msconfig and see if there is any thing else you could remove. rocky

I'm not sure about problems between NAV2000 and Word2000 but there are known problems with with Word97 and NAV 5.0 when it comes to printing. The solution in most cases is to disable autoprotect (not a very nice solution, I know!) so this is one thing to temporarily try in order to TS the printing problem. Regarding freezing other than printing I would disable any screensavers (this is pretty common) and as others have suggested, try to remove ALL unnecessary programs that are running.

Good luck!

Al
