Win98 – Help w. Ethernet Card Setup

by etta250 . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I just installed an ethernet port on a Windows 98 Computer and need help setting it all up. I want to be able to go on the internet through the CAT5 cable plugged into the new card. I installed the ethernet port into one of hte available PCI slots in the pack of hte PC.

The card is a Network Everywhere Network Card + Cable. It is model no. NC100U-WM.

I set it up with the floppy disk that came with it to install the driver. When I double click on internet explorer, the Internet Connection Wizard pops up. This is because the PC is fresh from a system recover.

Now, how do I set up the internet connection? The wizard gives me 3 options – telephone line, LAN, or that the computer is already set up for internet.

I have no idea how to configure the thing from here, because I have tried going different routes through teh internet connection wizard, but none lead me to functioning internet.

do you think somebody could help me?

Some other threads mention TCI protocol something, do I have to work with / install that? are there many steps to take through teh computer (network connections, internet connections, etc), or do I have to buy another adaptor or something for the computer?

Thanks a bunch-
