Win98 & Internal Modem

By lheisey ·
I hae a WIN 98 system and the modem lost its mind. I had to reinstall the internal Lucent MDP7800 modem. It will not install and operate. I throw on an exernala and life is good. Removed the MDP7800 and now at boot up it keeps searching for PCIadapter file that does not exist. How can I kill that?

go into your control panel to the "system" button.go to the device manager tab and look for a device with a ? and that says unsupported device go into the properties and check the box that says disable in this hardware profile. should prevent the modem from searching for a driver at boot

If you know the name of the file, you can perform a REGISTRY check, with REGEDIT.EXE

Delete the key in the registry when you've found it. Be careful when you delete those entries from the registry. If you need help, mail me.
