2 systems both running Win98SE
TCP/IP protocol (simple 2 system peer-to-peer)
Problem:
The main system (call it system 1) is the print server also. System 2 is mainly a client.
System 2 can browse in Net. Neighborhood fine and see all. System 1 can only see itself. Sometimes there are no icons at all in the window for Net. Neighborhood.
Also, from system 1, you can ping the other system, and the diagnostic server test says that they are connected. When you rename system 1 the same as system2 to look for a conflict, THE CONFLICT DOES OCCUR. So it seems that there is a connection, but you cannot browse the shares. You can even ping the UNC name for system 2 (from system1) and it will resolve its IP and reply. But you cannot see system 2 in the NN windows
I have replaced all the hardware, including the hub and cables. This worked for about two days, and now it is back to only one-way browsing. And I have reinstalled all network protocols several times. I have beenthrough all MS articles and followed all steps and have never seen a simple network be so difficult.
Is there anything I can do from here or do I need to reinstall?
