Win98 SE on a P4 system

by alexhay . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

Guys..need help here. I have a P4 system running on Win98SE. The problem is the system time will slow down after a while of using, roughly 2 hours. Then if leaves overnight, it will slowdown by a few hours. The vendor of the system gave me excuse that I cannot accept. Here is the solution.. Shut-Down/Reboot Win98SE every day (MS knowledgebase: Q189706), Upgrade to other OS (ie. Windows2000) and flash the bios to R01-E4. Even the screensaver also will lag. As the vendor claims that this is a common. Here is the claims : Seems to be affected by Intel P3/P4 processor with CPU speed 1GHz or
more and Old PC with slower processor and older Chipset doesn’t seems to exhibit
this problem. This system is been installed with a normal software ie Office97 (Patched to SP2), antivirus (Trend) and printer drivers. I really need help here. Please advice.
