user was having many lock up and other misc. errors, so I rebuilt a hard drive for her using a spare identical pc then transferred that new drive to her pc. Works fine for a few days, then all of a sudden, it won’t recognize the USB keyboard or mouse. Nothing I tried worked. So, I finally took her new hard drive and put it back in the pc it was originally set up with and it starts working.
I start troubleshooting the pc that would not see the KB and mouse using an imaged hard drive identical to the new one I set up for her and it works fine. A few days later, I had to move that pc to a different station in our work room and now the KB and mouse does not work. It turns out, it will only recognize the keyboard and mouse it was originally set up with. I’ve tried removing usb and KB and mouse entries in device manager and rebooting. I’ve tried going into setup and finding something there with no luck. In safe mode the mouse will not work, but the keyboard will work sometimes. Remember, this is a legacy free pc. It only has USB ports.
