Win98SE Crashing on install & just after

Recently I started getting the idea that while attending school it would be beneficial to have multiple operating systems on my machine. I purchased and installed a removable drive kit (new with 4 carriers) and a couple of drives (used 2GB) and whenI tried to install Win98, it crashed while installing. I’ve installed hundreds of times with Win98SE and this is the first time it has ever crashed on install. I’m curious to know if it could be a bad sector on the HDD since it is used or some otherreason. I purchased 2 used 2GB drives and both crash on install. I’ve installed using the tray with Win2K Pro and it works fine, but that drive I’ve had a while and it worked fine before.

Any suggestions?
