WIN98SE not seeing SCSI CD ROM

by pconsite . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

I have 3 CD ROM drives attached to my machine. The machine is an IBM PC Server 320 (133Mhz) RAID with 6 2.5 GB drives which run off of a MYLEX DAC960 RAID card.

The first CD ROM came with the machine it is a SONY CDU-76S. The other two, Cyberdrv CD-ROM TW-240S and HP CD-Writer 6020, are external attached to an additional SCSI card and are daisy chained with a tape drive on the end of the chain.

All went well with the initial installation from the Sony then when I powered up the other two drives the Sony disappeared from the device manager and only the HP CD-Writer was there. When I press the refresh button in Device manager the Cyberdrive appears.

I took the REM, that Windows put in, out of the Autoexec.bat and then rebooted and the Device Manager stated that the Cyberdrive existed but what was really happening was that the Sony became active.

I’d like for all three drives to be active.

I initially installed IBM DOS 7.0 and used the command “C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /M:10” in the Autoexec.bat for the
Sony CD ROM to be recognized by the system.
