Windos Updates Failing To Install.

by drimitz . Updated 19 years ago

I have been fighting this problem for the last few days. When I go to Windows Update and try to download the updates for a computer it tells me the updates have 0kb and 0 download time. However when I tell it to install the updates all 71 updates fail. The last successful update was Windows installer 3.1 which I installed manually. This happens if I let windows automatically download and install the updates or if I go to the website. The computer is Windows XP with service pack 2 installed.

Can anyone tell me how I can delete the downloads so i can force windows update to go out and download them again?

I have tried all the resolutions on Microsofts page for fixing the problem and none have helped. If you need more information to help resolve the problem please let me know what you need.

I can not reformat the computer because it is a clients pc and they do not want it formated so this option is out.

Thanks,

Jeff
