Window Explorer.exe

By ernet_78 ·
I can't open my "Windows Explorer" in order to browse my folders & files. No matter I click on the Icon of "Window Explorer or My computer" on the desktop or from the Start button, an error message prompt up like this: "EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:07c7fc6e
Registers: ........"
How can I fix it and use my Explorer.exe
Thank you for your kind attention.

From what I have seen on this problum try running scanreg from dos. Some people have said this has worked. Also I whould run System File Checker as well (Start---Run---SFC)

if you are running win98se you can boot to a dos prompt and run scanreg /restore then select a registry date when IE was still working.
Hope this helps..

I would boot into DOS and try c:\scanreg /fix first.
But chances are if you haven't formatted and re-installed clean in the last two or three years you will need to now. Windows 98 DAT files get too big to handle and become corrupted from Adding and Removing software inadequately.
You might try doing a re-install first just to get your data off before formatting. Or you could get a new hard drive, install Windows and attach the old one as a slave to get the data off.
Just a few suggestions, and of course the best is to format and install Windows XP Pro if you have the hardware.

good Luck,

sfc might help you solve the problem
but it is best advised that if u are using the same insatllation for more than a year or so
you re-Install new instalation will not have many s/w installed it will also boot faster.
be sure to back up My documnts folder n c:\windows\favourites (incase u have IE book marks)
