Window Sizing Problem

By Spider-Man ·
The problem I am experiencing just started last night. When I first logged in every thing was fine, but all of a sudden when I opened a new window it opened small (like it does sometimes) but when I went and hit the maximize button (square between the _ and X) and when it fully opened the window was offset to the right and down about 3/4". At the time I had my msn chat opened and it was in a full window and works fine. I guess I should add that I was at a site and clicked on a hot link when I heard a tone on my computer. When the window opened, that's when the offset started. I tried rebooting and it still was offset. I opened msn chat and it came in a regular window, no off set at all. I then shut everything down and ran scan disk and nothing came up bad. But when I open up my browser the windows are still off set. To fix this with the window in the minimize section I hit size and drug it out to the full screen (like it should be), but if I hit the big box it goes back to the off set position.

This particular machine rus windows 95, internet explorer 5.5.

Windows remembers the last position used & will open to that size & location on your screen.
With one instance only of Explorer open adjust to the position you want & then close using the X in upper right corner, do this for both maximize & restoresizes (middle box).
The only other thing I can suggest is open tools + internet options select the advanced tab click on restore defaults then ok, then close your IE window & reopen.
You should also empty your temporary internet files & cookies.

Hi, thanks for your response. I discovered the problem. It turned out the Window_Placement key was damaged. Deleting it and rebooting solved the problem.
