Windows 200 Pro Login Scripts

By mikelawlor16 ·
I have a .bat file in the users profile that doesn't run on Windows 2000 workstations (Active Directory is running. Of course if I put it in a GPO it runs fine. Any reason why it won't run as a part of the profile? It's in the right place \\syvol\sysvol..bla..bla..bla. I can browse out to Net Neigh and double click and run it?

Wrong approach.
Work thru server. You can redirect startup menu of users thru GPO and then put this bat file on startup.
But if still want to work by WSs put the .bat file to :
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.
Then everyone suppose to run the file.

Good Luck !

...not sure I follow. Redirect the users Starup? Or put it in the startup of every workstation I need to run the logon script? Wow.
Just making the GPO for the OU and putting the user in the OU works that the right approach?

You can either run it through the GPO, or through the users' profile. I am not sure why they are not running, but using a GPO is fine.

You dont need to have the.bat file locally on each machine.
I use a .bat Login Script which runs from the DC in the netlogon directory.

This replicates automatically between DC`s

Just needs the users AD profile pointing to path where the bat file exists.
