Windows 2000 Advanced Server & RAM

Maybe all of the people that I work with, including myself, are out of our minds. But, if you were to ask us in the hallway how much RAM W2K-AS supports we would all promptly answer up to 16 GB. However, we now have a server that has 16 GB of RAM and we can’t get more than 8 GB of it to work. Now all of our Microsoft Training material, information from Microsoft’s web page, and everywhere else we look on the internet says that W2K AS only -ever- supported up to 8 GB.

Why would we have allthought it went up to 16 GB??

I also remember a trick with other O/S’s that upgrades to previous products have a different set of limitations. Is there one of these ‘tricks’ to get W2K AS up to 16 GB? Or are we stuck with the 8 GB?
