Windows 2000 Advanced Server Slowdown Daily

by ted . Updated 18 years, 8 months ago

Our server slows down every day almost to a standstill about 4PM-6PM – Employees do not log off their machines. It appears to be a file optimization or file cache problem… or is there some software that is on the server causing this activity.

Here is a list of what we have…

10 users pc – xp pro
1 server – windows 2000 small business server
1gb ram, 1400mhz p3, raid 5, 32gb drives x3, symantec enterprise anti-virus edition that servers the other pc’s, and sql server ver. 8.00.194

We have been troubleshooting this for about 1 year, and have never found a solution.

I have tried replacement of keyboard, mouse, updates for server, network card to a pci 10/100, (would a gigabit ethernet card help?), and memory optimization programs – nothing seems to work. We need a bit of help.

Thanks!
