Windows 2000 Client Errors

By pcsupport ·
I have about 10 Win2k machines on our network. All 10 have this error logged in event viewer "Windows cannot dtermine the user or computer name.Return value 1722."
I have looked at technet and there solution to input a correct DNS entry does not work. Event ID 1000
Any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance

Are you logging into a domain? I will assume that you have created computer accounts for said computers. If these steps have been taken, then I agree that it is a DNS problem (unless of course the workstation has not been named). Try running an NSLOOKUP for your DNS Server on the clients. Are you running Win2000 Server?

Hi,
Just check these few things
1. Make sure the protocols you are using are same as the server.
2. If you are using DHCP make sure that the clients can access the dhcp server allright.
3. Make sure that inADS the computers fall under the right OU under the computer section. if not move them to the right OU.

Hope these help
Cheers
Gagan
