I’m going nuts about this; can someone give me detailed, step-by-step instruction about implementing DNS correctly? Here’s the scenario:
I built a Win2K Server and it installed its default configuration. No problems there. And for the record, I love Win2K – Micro$oft finally got something right! Great product; I’m just too damned ignorant to use it properly…
I have a domain name reserved, tstechserv.com, managed by register.com. I use a local ISP, and he has his own DNS servers. Iwant to leave the DNS servers owned by register.com as the SOA servers for my domain, and I want my local ISP’s DNS servers to be able to resolve my domain name correctly so that friends on the local network can locate my website.
But when I use nslookup, my ISP’s servers can’t resolve the name of my domain to my IP address. The online information from Micro$oft assumes knowledge I don’t have, so it’s fairly useless. I’m hopeful, though, that someone here has gone through this nonsense andcan give me some clear guidance.
