Windows 2000 network problem

By azaz_husain ·
I have an IBM Thinkpad with Windows 2000 as operating system and the network card is 3Com Mini PCI ethernet adapter.
My Problem is whenever i try to access to anything that is copy any document from the clients on the network which are Windows NT Workstation 4.0, my Windows 2000 gets hang.
I have installed Service pack 2 also for Win2k, still the problem is there.

Do you have the latest driver? What protocol are you suing does it happen with other protocols? If others work remove all network components reboot and reload the components and apply the network settings again. see if that works for you..

Check that only required protocols are installed.

Check that the network card operation is set to 'full duplex' or not, in accordance with the the other machines on the network.

Check the cable(s).

Hope for the best.
