Windows 2000 Networking

By mark.twomey ·
I have a Windows 2000 server that is used for demo systems.
It is running a piece of software that needs to read the mac address of the network card for licensing.
If unplugged from the network it does not read the mac address eventhough NETBEUI is installed.
Is there another way to get NETBIOS installed with Windows 2000.

When the network cable is unplugged, Windows 2000 disables the card. If you make a loopback cable and leave it plugged in. The card will stay enabled.
