Windows 2000 Pro

By chandrak ·
I have PC with Win98 SE and Windows 2000 Pro setup for dual boot. I want to remove Win 2000 Pro without changing anything on Win98 SE. Is there a easy way to uninstall Windows 2000 pro.

I have had and still have several computers that were/are setup for dual boot.
What I did when I wanted to eliminate one of the OS is the following:
Boot in the OS that you want to keep. Make a copy of the boot.ini file and delete the line from itthat points to the OS that you want to eliminate. Put this on a disk.
Use Recovery COnsole from win2k to copy the boot.ini to your hard disk.
Take out the disk, and reboot. NOw you will see only one option, it is gonna be the one that you want to keep.
When the computer boots up, go the windows explorer and delete the Winnt directory, that was used by win2k. There are a few other folders that belong to win2k but those also might be used by win 98 too, so you dont wanna mess with those. Deleting the winnt directory will free up a lot of disk space.
