Windows 2000 Pro and Roaming Profiles

By lisa.parnham ·
We have a NT4 server and have introduced a few Windows 2000 clients logging onto this server. It seems that the clients with Windows 2000 Pro have extremely large profiles sitting on the server. Could you please let me know what could be causing these profiles to be so large.

The my documents folder is located in the users folder under documents and settings. This entire folder will push up to the network and back down. I would suggest just moving that to something like c so it's not copied.

Please look at:
Documents and Settings\%user%\Local Settings

there are:
1)Temp and
2)Temporary Internet Files

You can configure using "non-profile" folders for IE and set user Environment variables to point Temp and Tmp to local dir not included into profile.

Please also look at 2000 poledit and
Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\ExcludeProfileDirs
