Windows 2000 pro Paging file error

    Locked

    by royald ·

After the login an error comes up that I do not have a page file or there is not enough memory allocated for the page file. I tried to increase the memory and I tried to create a new one. Neither works???? Still get error and both does not change the 20MB that the system currently thinks is allocated to it????????

A couple of pertinent questions…. Is there plenty of space available for a page file on the HDD? Are you logging on with an account that has sufficient priviliges to creat/modify pagefile settings? If you haven’t done it already, try logging in as Administrator and setting pagefile size to two times the amount of physical memory. Also verify that the pagefile is located in a reasonable spot. I recently serviced an NT box with the pagefile on a zip drive!

I had already tried your suggestions. Found the answer though, Make a note of this one: it was the everyone account? I had removed it from the access list. also denying all of its rights will have the same effect. all I had to do was add it backinto the access list and give it read privlages and reboot, no more error.
