Windows 2000 program

By kashmeir63 ·
I have multiple users logging on to a windows 2000 prof. computer and each time a new desktop is created. Is there a way to load a program once and have all users have access to the program and see it on there desk top.
Any help would be appreciated.

Every user that is created in Windows 2000 has their own profile which creates their own desktop, saves their settings, etc. In order to put a program onto everyones Desktop you must logon as an administrator, install the program, and then either copy a shortcut into the C:\Documents and settings\All users\Desktop\ folder. All users look at the "All users" profile for common setings, icons, etc.

Another option is to place the shortcut on the default users desktop. That way each user has their own icon which they can remove if they wish. The problem here is that only new users will get the icon unless you delete all profiles first.

C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Desktop. The Default user profile is hidden so make sure you can see hidden files first.
