I have just created a 2000 server and it was working well. This company uses Quattro pro 4 for DOS in a BIG way for their process mgmt, inventory control and timesheet entry.
The problem occurred when I added security to a directory and suddenlyQuattro pro thinks the directories are now files (leaving them inaccessable). Removing the security I added had no effect. Apparently there is some kind of attribute that is attached to directories when security is applied that makes them inaccessable from old DOS programs. The only way I found to reverse the problem was to copy the directories in question across the network to a workstation, then back to the server and apply NO security. When security is applied the directories become inaccessable again but ONLY to these old programs that are so CRITICAL to the operation of this company. Has anyone heard of this problem? Microsoft was no help. Is there a way to change the directory attributes back to their defaults without the copying process I described? An answer to the latter question is worth a 1000 points!
