Windows 2000 Server

by idham21 . Updated 19 years ago

I’ve just installed from scratch Windows 2000 Advanced Server wirh Active Directory on A Dell 1600 P4 2.4Ghz server with 512 RAM memory and 40GB SCSI Hard drive (not raided). All went fine, however once I joined an XP client computer to the domain logging in to the said client (Client is Dell P4 2.2 w/256 ram) takes about 60 seconds or more to finish the login process. As this point I haven’t even set-up the log-in script to map network drives yet.

Is there any way to monitor what it’s doing (resolving) during the client log-in process that it takes this long to finish logging in.

FYI, I’ve already stripped down all the un-needed start-up programs via the msconfig options.

Any thoughts on this? Could it be the group policy hasn’t been st-up yet??

Thanks

Idham
