Windows 2000 Server

By bbahar ·
I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server on one subnet. I would like to join to this domain from other subnet, but I can't success. I can make a mapping to this server, ping responds, but I can't get into domain.

I have a client32 on my workstation to work with Novell too. Within a same subnet there is no problem.

What can be a problem ?...

First and foremost, can you ping the internet domain name(eg: server1.domain.com)? If can do your subnet is differentiate using router, gateway or even firewall? Can you do a nslookup in different subnet? Remember, Windows 2000 is heavily using DNS insteed of Wins in Winnt 4.0 to resolve all the object's location. Do check on it.

Cheers!

If it is a different subnet, try adding a site and including your subnet in the address range...unless you want to make it a subdomain. If you add a site on the advanced server, this should take care of any trust/DNS issues.
