Windows 2000 Server

By metalfly ·
I cannot configure power management system
in my Windows 2000 Server installation.
The server supports web site, and after approximately 20-30 minutes (if there is no activities) if you try to ping to IP address, it shows 'connection timed out', and of course the web site doesn't work.
I tried to set different options in 'Power Management' for network card and also
in 'Power Options'.
I disabled all options in BIOS related to Power Mangement. Nothing works.
If you have any suggestion, please let me know.
Respectfully yours,
Aleksei

Go back to square one check all windows settings for power management, including your monitor settings and disable them.
Win 2000 will suspend your monitor and other components if it is not explicitly told NOT TOO.
Verify that all suspend optionsare turned off as well as all sleep options are turned off. Then make sure your bios setting are set to always on.

Verify that you are not running any suspend
options on your power backup unit that might also affect your machine

Sometimes your hardware (case & power supplies) can be configured to suspend or sleep if there is no keyboard or mouse action so review the manufactures web site and all manuals for more information
pertaining to your specific system.

Create a boot log and check all services
to see if any other action is taking place
or any user has unautorized access to the machine

Let the forum know what you learn.
