Windows 2000 Server Joining NT4 Network

By nxk ·
Can somebody please please help me with this: -

We have a Windows 2000 Server that has a Novell Network Client setup and we are trying to get it to join an NT4 network. So far I have done the following: -

a. Uninstalled the Novell for Networks Client
b. Inserted a static IP Address with the relevant correct Sub-net mask etc.
c. Ensured that Client for Microsoft Networks is running.

but I still cannot get it to join the domain. The error message is that 'this is not a valid domain'.

Am I missing something here? Is simply remving the Client for Novell Networks sufficient or have I missed something?

Thanks alot
Kutty

You need to remove the machine account from the NT 4 domain through server manager. This may be only part of the solution, but many times when you have attempted multiple times the machine account exists, and is keeping you from adding the machine to the domain.
