Windows 2000 Server loses shared folders

By jpsurfling ·
Hi,

I'm portuguese so I'm sorry if my english isn't so perfect.
My problem are a few messages that began to appear in the Event Viewer after I installed a Windows 2000 Server. After those messages all the shared folders stop being available for the all network. The messages that show up in the event viewer are (sorry but the W2K Server is in portuguese, but maybe one of you guys can understand what's going on):

Windows 2000 Server loses shared folders

Can't read Portugeese but sounds a conflict with which server is the primary and which one isn't. The new server you installed might be telling the net it's the new authority. Since the net might be agreeing with it, and the new server isn't set up as the new authority, then the new server isn't sharing those folders. A simplistic answer but \\EIPSA.PT\sysvol\EIPSA.PT\Policies seems to say the sysvol shared folder, which is necessary to be shared, is no longer being shared across the net. That points to a problem of which authority is primary on the net. The older server or the new server.

Check out the following MS Knowledgebase articles:

Q285923 - Error Messages Every 5 Minutes Report Events 1000, 1001, and 13508, Citing Replication Trouble

Q271213 - Event ID 1000 and 1001 Repeat Every 5 Minutes in the Event Log

The firstarticle matches your error messages exactly.

Hope this works for you.
